Camino de Santiago ....30th and 31st August

30th August.

Aguiada to Gonzar, 33.5km in 6.15 hours

We´d originally thought to stop 7.5km earlier but felt good so carried on walking. The weather still holds as good - no more mist as we´re too low now! There is now a lot of forest area so it can be cold at times.

Very important day today as we pasted the 100km marker - and the 97km (the real 100km ...) The 100km marker was very disappointing , covered in graffiti. Today was unusual as we went through 25 hamlets - some with no more than a few houses and a name plate to say they were a hamlet! Again, a whole load of smelly farmyards as well!

Today we´re staying at a lovely Albergue - new again - it didn´t appear in either of our guide books. It has an American west feel to it - cow hide on the floor that sort of thing. Another good meal as well - the region so far, has lived up to it´s reputation on the food front. There is little to do here, we walked the village in minutes, then had a drink of vino tinito .......

Not a lot else has happened really - very quiet day! We didn´t even meet any unusual characters !

Thought I may be a little more excited by the passing of the 100km to go point - but even that almost slipped by!

31st August
Gonzar to Melide, 31.5km in 6 hours - ish

Not a good sleep - a house shaking snorer - even worse than dad ! The walk was good though, more of the same from the last few days - great weather, fields, farmyards.......

The Albergue we´re in tonight is terrible - not clean, we only stopped here because it´s a big town and we needed to catch up on the Internet - we´ve not had access for days now.

Only other thing to say about today is that we have just 54km left ...... 34km tomorrow and 20km on the last day! We make Santiago by about 11am on Sunday .......!!!!!!

I guess by the time you read this you'll have finished!!!! Well done, enjoyed your blog. O'Cebreiro provided me with two abiding memories, Galian Pipes and an incrediable morning slowly decending to a low lying mist which gave the appearance of being a calm white sea with island dotted here and there (hill tops).

Thanks for sharing

Jim
