C de Santiago day 11 and 12 ....

I think anyway!

18th August. Hontanas to Boadilla del Camino, 30km in 5 and a half hours.

Felt great today - was flying ! Had a great meal last night and a good nights sleep. Was woken this morning by a ´crinkly bag man´the hardest plastic bag and the most noise possible ! He spent 20 mins rummaging in the dark for something I don´t think he found, very annoying.

Set off around 6.45am. The start of the day was exceptional.

The walk was about half way up a valley so you look down on to the valley floor. Then, 1 steepish climb and we could look back over a large area. As the sun was only just up there was still a bit of mist around, looked a bit mysterious ! Had breakfast at the top of the climb, stuff we´d brought with us. The surface was nice to walk on as well.

Arrived at the next Albergue early. Another nice one, bigger than last nights but with a big garden- easy for drying the clothes. The garden had a pool as well. Good job the Albergue was nice, that was just about all there was to it ! Looked around the village in about 5 mins flat.

 The bunks ...
 The town ...

In the garden of the Albergue

Met up with Garret and Kristie again, also a girl called Nicole from London.

The Internet was very slow so just emailed a few people.

Got VERY excited as the man booking us into the Albergue had a can of Tim Hortons - but it was just a tip can and he had none of the actual coffee!

19th August

Boadilla del Camino to Carrion de los Condes, 27km in 5 hours and had 2 stops.

Had a very quiet night, no real noise, when we left only about half the dorm was up - great to have a sensible lot !

Walked the 1st section of the day with Garrett, he´d set off half an hour before but had gone in the wrong direction !

Incredibly beautiful 1st 6km along a canal. At the first stopping point we picked up Nicole, she´d walked on the day before but started out a little later than us this morning. We took an alternative route as the main one was along the road, it was a marked path and very easy to follow. The last 2km were´t so easy to follow so we ended up crossing a field to reach the road.

We´re staying in Monestario de Santa Clara. Very nice place, we have a ´cell´to ourselves ! Very clean place with a few nuns hanging around.

Catching up on sleep in the cell .....

Francis Of Assisi stayed her as well on his Pilgrimage ......

We went to mass, an Andrew Lloyd special!

The town has a fiesta on tonight, so has a great atmosphere, after dinner we watched a parade through the town, bands, old cars, floats that sort of stuff. A band was playing Abba in the main square. Unfortunately we have a 10pm curfew so couldn´t stay out !

We´ve turned our next few days around, we´re ensuring a short walk into Leon so we can see around the place.

Half way coming up.........

Way markers out of Carrion ....
